The remodel has begun!
Yup,
We're finally remodeling this little house. It's been a long time coming. It's a total exterior makeover. The interior will have to wait 'till sometime around the middle of this century.
All the old drafty, "never come clean" windows.....gone. I don't know where they've gone, I'm just happy they're gone. The new ones are wonderful! It was incredible the difference it made just changing the windows. This house is 30 by 60 and has 19 windows. 12 of them are double width. The house is considerably quieter and 'tight' feeling. We're anxious to see the difference in the energy bill.
No more cedar shingle walls!!! They are all off. The whole time I was rippin' them off, I was saying to myself,"I've wanted to do this for YEARS!!". We're wrapping the house with Tyvek barrier and I'm filling every gap with that sticky, nasty, expanding foam-in-a-can stuff. Yesterday I was filling one little hole and the darn thing would'nt stop spraying. I just threw it toward the trash cans. One of the dogs picked it up and now he's all bloated up and goofy lookin'. OK...the dog part did'nt happen, but it sounded kinda funny!
We are having the house rocked up 8 feet to the roof. It's not totally white rock. It has a little tint and some color mixed in. They should be finished some time next week.
The last few days I've been pricing metal for the roof. It's a toss up whether or not we can afford to do that right away. I do look forward to stripping the old one off. I found a company in Phoenix that makes corrugated panels that are already aged and rustic. That might look kinda neat. Good thing is, we've got the tools to install it ourselves.
That about does it for me this morning. I'm gonna try my hand at installing an exterior door. It may end up upside down and opening the wrong way. I'll give it a shot anyway.
Until next time......

Rent-a-Kid
OK!!....I get it!! We need a little baby. Not all the time. Just so we can take a few pictures to put on our Babyless Blogspot. Every time I check out Spence World, there are new pictures of these precious little kids! Those rascals are perpetual photo opts. Every day, 24/7.
On top of it all, the kids in the Spence Blogs are good lookin', well proportioned, and suspiciously well behaved.
Thank goodness the spouses those boys chose had the dominant gene. I've seen the boys baby pics. They are right up there with the pictures of me when I was a baby. The kind you would think twice about before posting them for the world to see!
Back to the problem at hand. We need a kid for our blog pics.
Surely their kids aren't as well behaved as they are good looking. Somebodys bound to need a break now and then. Maybe we could rent one for a couple of days. I bet they could fit a car seat in a medium sized pet carrier, hang a bottle from a string on the ceiling, strap that kid in and send 'em FedEx Overnight!!
When the driver gets here, we could tell him to hold on, we'll be done in a minute. Change the diaper. (we could hire somebody to do that....maybe FedEx will do it for a little extra) Take a few pics, do a non-invasive diaper check, fill the bottle and put him right back on the truck.
Perfect...Batta Big Batta Boom!!
Problem solved.

The Big Show
Last nights sunset.
Mmmmm,
Some kinda pretty!!
I took this with the video camera we got a few weeks back. It's different than my regular camera, but I'm getting better.
This evening Von and I had just finished dinner and I was checking the DVR for anything new.
One of the shows we regularly record is Craig Camerons American Horseman show on RFD-TV.
The opening of the show has various product endorsements. It's been cool to see Vons horse in one of the commercials. The horse, Slick, was at Craigs a few months back for more training. While there, Craig used Slick in a supplement endorsement.
Back in September, Von and I went to a clinic at Craigs place near Stephenville. While there they filmed some of the clinic for his TV show.
Tonight I clicked on an episode called "Building Confidence". Well...... there we were. What a HOOT!
I don't know if you guys have DirecTV. If you do, see if you get RFD, channel 231. The next airing is not until Sun. the 15th at 12:30 AM and PM.
Lovie is asleep on the couch so I'm gonna try and sneak out to feed. What a sight, Lovie and Lady asleep on the couch and Snoop Kitty Cat sleepin' on the lounge chair.
Guarantee Dustin is wide awake. He got in from work an hour or so ago. He just gets wound up around midnight.
News flash : Larry is cleaning up his shop. I do this regularly. Ha! I've been working on this current clutter for the last 10 to 15 years. Heck, Yvonne helped me tonight! She said "We should'nt EVER have to buy nuts or bolts again!!", refering to the accumulated assortment on one of the benches.
Well, better go.

Woke up to another beautiful day. We have been on a roll with this weather. Everybodys sayin' "enjoy it while we can, 'cause it's gonna change".
The news from Ft.Hood is heavy on my heart this morning. I get a mixture of emotions when I think about the man that did the shooting. It reminds me how fortunate we are here in the states. Things like this are a common occurance in many parts of the world.
Back to my happy thought....The Spence Gang! Sounds like something out of a western. I recently came across a pic of Jordon riding Joe. Man, he looks good on that horse.
Hey, how is Steve? I often think of him. Hope he is doing well. Tell him I said "hello".
Better get busy. Lots to do before evening.
